I've been enjoying Lauren Mayberry's solo stuff since she stepped away from CHVRCHES, and 'Sunday Best' is a cracking tune. It's full of big, brassy beats and sweeping strings but alongside a surprisingly meaningful lyric about dealing with grief and trying to find light in the darkest places. Her vocals are always on point (and, in my opinion, she is the main driver behind the band's success), but she also clearly knows her way around a hook because you'll be humming this one for days. Despite this subject matter, this will 100% put a whacking great smile on your face.
