I am all for a bit of maximalism in House Music. I clubbed my way through the 1990s when 'more' was everywhere. The bigger sounding the track, the better. But, sometimes, a single straightforward idea can have the most significant impact. 'Last Ray Of Sunset' is built around a solitary repeated vocal sample, a warm bassline, and incredible percussion. Other than a bit of filtering and some twinkling near the end, that's it. But it doesn't need anything else because it's perfect just the way it is. It's the dictionary definition of an 'earworm'. Give into it. Resistance is futile.
